review of Unnatural habits by Kerry Greenwood

If you’ve watched the TV series then you can put faces to most of the names in the book.

Phryne Fisher, our heroine, lives in a sumptuous house

in the seaside suburb of St Kilda, Melbourne. This time slavery and prostitution and bad nuns fill the pages, as well as a kidnapping and piracy on the high seas.

It’s pretty hard to put it down. And if you’re from Melbourne, you can put a picture to the places mentioned.

My favourite saying is – ‘what did you expect, wheels?’

a statement often made by nuns as their habits rose.
